Bill White, 87

Mr. Bill White, age 87 of Bogata died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Brentwood Terrace Nursing Home of Paris. Funeral services will be 11 am, Saturday, October 13 at First Baptist Church of Bogata with Rev. Bob Posey and Rev. Jeff Duvall officiating. Burial will be at Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Homes of Bogata. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service.

Mr. White was born May 14, 1925 in Henderson, Texas the son of Luther and Bert Rowden White. He married Noma Jean Bell on February 16, 1946 in Paris. She preceded him in death February 21, 1986.  On September 26, 2000, he married Barbara Ward in Bogata. Mr. White served in WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was wounded in Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart. He was also a deacon of the First Baptist Church and formerly served on the Board of Directors for The Bogata Thedford Homes.

His survivors include his wife, Barbara White of Bogata; step-children, Tony and Cathy Ward  of Milton, Florida, Gail and Larry Taylor of Bogata, Belva and Doug Byndas of Newalla, Ok, Pam and Bryan Hollingsworth , Marty and Rachel Ward and Todd and Jamie Ward all of Bogata; one sister, Shirley Thompson and husband, Frank of Troy, Tx; a niece, Lynn McMutry of Troy, Tx; a nephew, Mike Thompson of Louisville, KY; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie White on December 8, 1989.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to Bogata Cemetery, 104 Mt. Vernon Drive, Bogata, Tx 75417.
