Lucy Fowler, 96

Lucy Talma Allen Fowler of Deport, Texas, died at Paris Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on December 29, 2011.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Cunningham Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery of Cunningham.  The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time at the church.  Wood Funeral Homes, Deport have charge of the arrangements.  Serving as pallbearers will be Colton Moore, Steve Dunlap, Cory Jacobs, Jay Porter, Keith Medlin, and Mark Dunagan.

Mrs. Fowler was born on November 17, 1915 in Cunningham, Texas to John and Martha Allen.  She graduated from Cunningham High School in 1934.  She married Willie Joe Fowler, also of Cunningham, on September 21, 1935.  Together they had four children, Barbara, Talma Joe, Carol and Michael.  Mrs. Fowler lived at Cunningham until she and her family moved to Dallas, Texas.  They lived there from 1954-1975

She was a member of the Edgemont Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Oak Crest Baptist.  Upon retirement, she and her husband moved back to Cunningham. There she attended Cunningham Baptist Church where she was a charter member.

Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker who loved to cook, grow a vegetable garden and flowers.  She loved to read the Bible and history.  She also liked to sew, quilt, sing and listen to Gospel Music.  She taught her children about God and stood firm in her beliefs.  She was a beloved mother who will live forever in her children’s hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Joe, her son Michael, and her grandson, Jimmy Del.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Althea, Clara, Johnnie, Irene, Margie and brothers, Fred, Kenneth, Robert, and Harold Allen.  She is the last of the 10 children.

She is survived by her children,  Barbara and Del Dunlap, Talma Joe and Margaret Fowler, and Carol Dorsey:  her grandchildren, Stephen and Sherry Dunlap, Keith and Pamela Medlin, mark and Melanie Dunagan, Christy and Cory Jacobs, Amanda and Jay Porter and Jennifer Dorsey:  her great-grandchildren, Maegan, Madison, Jason, Lauren, Alyssa, Colton, Brooke, Ty, Chandler, Olivia, Corbin, Carly, and Cohen.  She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
