THELMA CANNON 83 of Paris and formerly of Deport

Thelma Ann Cannon, 83 of Paris, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for 1:00pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Paris with Bishop Mark Greenwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery of Deport with Shawn Harrison, Jay Harrison, Alvin Lemons, Brandon Crawford, Jacob Cannon and Sam Nelson serving as Pallbearers.  Wood Funeral Homes, Deport have charge of the arrangements.  The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday night beginning at 6:00pm.

She was born on February 12, 1934 in Streator, Illinois.  Her parents, Edward Amos and Thelma Esther Rogers Solomon adopted her when she was a toddler.  Thelma married “the love of her life”, Harlen “Gene” Cannon on February 9, 1967.  Between them they had 12 children.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is survived by her children:  James McCoy and wife, Wanda of Grand Forks, ND; Rae Lynn McCoy Black and husband, Ed of Reno; Thelma Martin Neuville of Winnsboro; Danelle Martin of Paris; Lisa Martin Lemons of Paris; Gino Cannon and wife, Robin of Paris; Diana Cannon Young and husband, Robert of Deport; and Harlen Cannon of Paris; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother George Rogers; her husband Gene Cannon and a son, Kenneth Lee Murphy.
