Virginia Blackwell, 92 of Talco

Virginia Josephine Blackwell, age 92, of Talco walked into the waiting arms of her Savior Jesus Christ at her home surrounded by her loving family May 4, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be 3 pm Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Bridges Chapel. The family receive friends 7-8 Saturday.

Virginia was the youngest of eight children born to Irvine William and Myrta Mayfield Cabell on September 20, 1924 near Sugar Hill. She spent her younger life there and the Maple Springs area. She attended school in Maple Springs where she graduated in 1941.

Virginia married Milton Blackwell in 1948. Of this union two sons, Ben and Michael were born.

She only had two children of her own, but was playmate to numerous nieces and nephews then “other momma” to great nieces and nephews as well as best friend. Her life revolved around her Lord first and her family. If you ever had a secret to tell, a broken heart to share or just needed a hug, she was always there. And once you were at her house you were always fed a delicious meal before you left.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Michael; five brothers: Johnnie Cabell, Wallace Cabell, Bennie Cabell, Willie Cabell and Lawrence Cabell; two sisters: Myra Cabell Belcher and Annie Cabell Wells and several of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one son, Ben Blackwell; one grandson, Troy Lynn Blackwell; one great-grandson, Tristan; two great-granddaughters, Erika and Allie; three great- great daughters, Autumn, Riley and Harper.

This lady will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
