Richard Ward of Bogata


Richard Ward, 84 of Bogata, died at the home of his daughter in Greenville, Sunday, June 5, 2016.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Bogata with Reverends Charles Ashby and Bob Posey officiating.  Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.  The Family will receive friends from 10am until Service Time at the church.

He was born in Bogata on November 4, 1931, the son of James William [Bill] and Isabella Hawkins.  He married the former Mary Ann Rymel in Bonham, Texas on May 2, 1953.  Mr. Ward was a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Bogata; was active in the Rosalie Lodge #527 A.F. & A.M. and the Deport Eastern Star.  Mr. Ward served in the US Army from 1953-55.  For a number of years he owned and operated both a service station and an Auto Parts Store in Bogata, later retiring from Texas Utilities Mining Company.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Ward Ross on August 11, 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Ward of Bogata; his children:  Donna Ward and husband, Gene of Oklahoma City , Denise Tippit and husband Steve of Greenville, and Damon Ward and wife, Sherry of Keller; one brother, Sammy Joe Ward of Bogata; 13 grandchildren:  John Ross; Matthew Ross; Jesse Ross; Josh Jones; Cole Faulkner; Lauren  Erwin; Sara Northcutt; Sam Tippit, Noah Tippit, Shelby Tippit; Sidney Tippit; Mason Ward; Ethan Ward; 14 great-grandchildren.
