Gerald Burns, 78 of Bogata

burnspicGerald Edward Burns passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 @ Brentwood Terrace Healthcare Center in Paris, TX at the age of 78. Military Graveside Rites wil be held on Wednesday, May 18, at 2:30pm in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Wood Funeral Homes have charge of the arrangements.

Gerald was born July 17, 1937 in Red River County to W.E. (Gene) & Madge (Ladd) Burns.

He grew up in Cunningham & Bogata area and served his country in the United States Air Force.  He married Neva Dell Bond in 1961, together they have two daughters.  He later married Pat Turner in 1987.  Gerald was fondly referred to as “Gerry” by many of his friends.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, horse racing and was considered an inaugural member of the “Bogata Domino Hall”.  He was a leader for TUMCO in Monticello, TX for many years and until his retirement in 1992.  In his later years, his best times were spent living life to the fullest. Gerald was one the first progressive slot winners in casino history in Shreveport, LA.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Turner, along with two brother’s, Carl Henry, Royce Burns and sister Ollie Ruth Robinson.  Gerald is survived by his daughters Marty Woodall of Bogata and RaNell Isaacs and husband, Mark of Plano; two granddaughters Alli & Averi Isaacs) of Plano, along with his sister Billie Lewis of Bogata & numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
