Nolan Belcher, Formerly of Red River County


Nolan Lee Belcher, age 77 of Palestine and formerly of Cuthand passed away Friday May 6, 2016 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services 2pm Sunday May 8 at Cuthand United Methodist Church with Rev John Purviance officiating. Burial in Cuthand Cemetery under direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

Mr.  Belcher was born Jan 9, 1939 in Red River County the son of Clarence and Allie Coggins Belcher.

He was retired from the Texas Department of Corrections and he and his wife of 58 years Janie Moore Belcher raised four children.  He was a loving husband with the biggest heart of any man and became a super hero pawpaw.  His quick wit made every person that ever knew him never leave without a smile that inevitably made him many friends. He is survived by  two sons Johnny Belcher and wife  Dottie and Jerry Belcher and wife Jeanie  of Palestine, two daughters  Sandra Watson and husband  Danny of Jacksonville and Sharon Stanfield of Palestine,  four grandsons  Jeremy Watson, Brett Stanfield ,Bradley  Belcher and  Joel  Whitaker ,four granddaughters Amanda Crane, Angela Hanes, Leah Watson and Julie Belcher, He is also survived by a brother  Billy Don Black and wife Linda of Bogata and   many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters Doris Baker and Francis Sheffield.
