Danny D. Banister, 67 of Cunningham and formerly of Winnsboro

banisterMr. Danny D. Banister, 67 of Cunningham and formerly of Winnsboro, died on April 25, 2016 in VA Medical Center of Shreveport.  Graveside Services have been scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at 3:00pm in Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.

Mr. Banister was born on November 30, 1948 in Titus County, near Mt. Pleasant.  He was a decorated US Army Veteran serving a double tour of duty in Vietnam and receiving two purple hearts. He was a retired Tour Bus Operator for Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys.  He was preceded in death by the following family members:  Joe Holly and Ruby Banister; Pat and Ed Blount; Melba Hoffman; and Derwood and Mary Banister.

Survived by his family:  Daughter and son-in-law Marsha and Brandon Oats; grandson, Brayden Oats; granddaughter, Kaylee Dube and husband, Andy; great-grandson, Grayson Dube; Carolyn and John Zulch; Shela and Buzzy Ivey; Wade and Debbie Hoffman; Virginia and Wayne Jones; Sharon Warren, Mary Ann Kubler, Jerri Ann Howard and Michael Calloway; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Danny was a great boss. I worked for him during the Dandy Donut days before I left for college. He was always smiling and ready to talk. I lost touch with him and was surprised to see him again driving for Ray Price(our friend Gary Jones played for Ray). He remembered me and smiled that big smile.
