TRUMAN LEE STEPHENSON, 76 of Bogata

truman stephensonMr. Truman Lee Stephenson, age 76, of Bogata died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his residence. His funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, March 9 at First Assembly of God Church  in Bogata with Rev. Daniel Hines officiating. Burial will be in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service.

Mr. Stephenson was born June 4, 1939 in Bogata the son of Isaac and Lena Anderson Stephenson. He married Sandra Brevell in l986 in Houston.  He served in the U.S. Army. He was a senior inspector for a fabrication company.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Stephenson of Galena Park, TX; a daughter, Kassi Hulett of Galena Park; a son, Steve Stephenson of Las Vegas, Nevada; and four sisters, Nell Barkley of San Diego, Ca, Imogene Hutson, Nancy Brown and Gayle Roach and husband, Don all of Bogata.  He is also survived by two stepchildren  Kenda Hall of League City and Codey Church of Houston .He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine Jefferies.

    He was my mentor, my brother and father figure for many years. I learned a lot from him. I should have, Lord knows he gave me enough lessons. Absolutely one of the best story tellers ever! Lol He could sure make folks laugh.

    Sandie, Kassi, Cody and Kenda, I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. I was so sad to hear the news of Truman’s passing and I wish I could be there to share in your pain. I practically grew up in his household and have so many memories there with the Stephenson family. Thank you Truman for welcoming me into your home and for giving me the most wonderful friend and sister, Kassi. RIP Truman.
