Donald Ray Smith, 78 of Paris and formerly of Deport, went to be with his lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at his residence.

Donald Smith was a very kind and loving man to all who knew him.  He loved his family very much and dedicated his life to his wife; his children; his grandchildren; his great grandchildren and his family and friends.  Donald went to school in Cunningham, Texas where he met his wife, Shirley Dynetta, and they have been married for 51 years with four children.

Donald Ray worked for the City of Paris, but was known for his 25 year, plus working for the Lamar County Precinct One, Barn in Pattonville.

Surviving him are his wife:  Shirley Dynetta Smith of Paris; his children:  Shirley LaDon Farrow and husband, Keith of Paris; Jeffery Ray Smith and wife, Luella of Deport; Kenneth Don Smith of Paris; and Billy Ray Smith and wife, Brandy of Pattonville; 7 grandchildren:  Clinton Scott Farrow and wife, Tamera of Paris; Daniel Brian Farrow and wife, Jamie of Paris; Matthew Ryan Smith of Deport and Shannon Smith of Paris; Kristen Elaine Smith of Deport; Christopher Mickael Young of Muldersdrift, South Africa; and Billy Dean Smith and wife, Carrol of Pattonville; 5 great-grandchildren: Mia Grace Farrow and Clinton Scott Farrow, Jr. of Paris; Elizabeth Farrow and Kaleb Farrow of Paris; and Pazleigh Elizabeth Smith of Pattonville:  8 brothers and sisters:  Darrell Wayne Smith and wife, Evelyn of Grand Prairie; James Paul Smith and Wife, Nancy of Leonard; Nova Sue Goley of Paris; Fonzo Grant Smith and wife, Betty of Wilmer, TX; Ruth Coleman and husband, William of Deport; Shirley Haskell and husband, Larry of Deport; Barbara Jewel Merchant and husband,
Ronnie of Bogata; and Larry Gene Smith and wife, Sheila of Cunningham.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfonzo and Angie Jewel Smith.  Three infant grandchildren:  Joshua and Rachel Smith and Leighton Riley Smith; two brothers, Charlie Dale Smith, and wife Carroll and Lester Ray Henderson; two sisters:  Karen Cherry and husband, Darrel and Opal Juanita Smith.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 11:00am in Wood Funeral Homes, Deport.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery with grandchildren, Clinton Farrow; Daniel Farrow; Matthew Smith; Shannon Smith; Billy Dean Smith and standing in for Christopher Young will be Keith Farrow, son-in-law.  The Family will be having a meal at the Deport American Legion Hall immediately following interment services.  There is a visitation scheduled for Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at Wood Funeral Homes, Deport.  The family wishes to acknowledge Platinum Home Health and Hospice for all their help and service.
