Richard Garrison, 85 of Rosalie






Richard Wayne Garrison, age 85 of Rosalie, died on November 27, 2015 in Clarksville Nursing Center.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for Monday, November 30 at 11:00am in the First United Methodist Church of Bogata with Reverend Bob Bush officiating.  Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10-11 am at the Church.

He was born in Kanawha, Texas on September 7, 1930, the son of Ed and Ruby Walker Garrison.  He married Billie Fryar on August 10, 1956 in Kanawha.  He was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.  He was a long time member of the Rosalie Lodge #527, A.F. and A.M. for over 50 years, and served as secretary for 40 years.  He began his work career as an auditor for Anderson Clayton Company.  He then began a teaching career, teaching at Cunningham for two years, Bogata Elementary, and then later serving as Tax Assessor for Rivercrest Schools.  He sold insurance and real estate and was a Veteran Service Officer for Red River County for 17 years.  He was a long time member of the Rosalie Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Garrison of Rosalie; son, Richard Glenn and wife, Dena Garrison of Abilene; two grandchildren, Rusty Odom and Micha Odom; three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Odom; Wesley Colt Odom and Makenna Barker.

The family requests donations be made to the Bogata Cemetery Association, 104 Mt. Vernon Road, Bogata, Texas 75417, or the Charity of your choice.

    So sorry to hear of Mr. Garrison’s passing! I had him as a teacher at Bogata Junior High and he was a wonderful teacher and a very nice man! Keeping you and Richard in my prayers.
