Opal Mauldin Zattler, 92 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Red River County.

zattlerobitpicMrs. Opal Mauldin Zattler, age 92 formerly of Red River County died Monday Sept 28 in Mission Manor Nursing Home in Mt Vernon.

Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday Oct 3 at the Pavilion of Bogata Cemetery under direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was born March 7,1923 in Cuthand the daughter of Thomas and Evie Sikes Mauldin. She was a fun loving, witty and humorous woman who had a great love for gardening and cooking. She loved to cook great meals and share them with family and friends. She traveled away during her life but was always proud to call Bogata her home.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Robert, Charles and Billy Mauldin and a grandson Paul Posey of Fayetteville, Arkansas

She is survived by two sons Larry Whitney of Cypress Springs Village, Texas and Thomas Posey of Rogers, Arkansas, a sister Wanda Cunningham of Ft Worth, and three grandchildren Joy Shirley of Elkins, Arkansas, Kathy Carli of Spokane, Washington and Ken Posey of Fayetteville, Arkansas
