Yuba Sparks, formerly of Deport


Mrs. Yuba Sparks, age 89 of Paris and formerly of Deport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for Saturday, August 15, at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Deport.   Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  . Serving as pallbearers will be Cade Sparks; Bryce Wilson; Dex Baker; Justin Click; Robert Norwood and Don South.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Malone, the Winmore Sunday School Class, and the Deport Order of the Eastern Star.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7-8 at Wood Funeral Homes, Deport.

She was born on November 26, 1925 in the Highway Community of Dickens County, Texas, the daughter of Gordon and Lola Mae Weaver Parks.  She was a graduate of Spur High School.  She married Jimmie Sparks on March 22, 1942.  He preceded her in death on March 27, 1998.   She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Alta Fangio on August 31, 2010; her parents, Gordon and Lola Mae Parks; and an infant sister, Celia Mae Parks.  Mrs. Sparks was a long time and active member of the First Baptist Church of Deport where she was a long time teacher of the Winmore Sunday School Class until her death; she was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she had served as Worthy Grand Matron several times and had also served as Deputy Grand Matron.  She was a devoted wife; mother; grandmother; great-grandmother; and great-great-grandmother.

Surviving are her children:  Kathy Foreman Flach and husband, Dale; Mary Ann Ericsson; and Ernie Sparks and wife, Rita; son in law, Fred Fangio; sister, Beth Bullard; Uncle Tod Weaver, who was like a brother; grandchildren:  Lisa Hughes; Duane Fangio and wife, Kathy; Chris Sparks and wife, Kim; Tamera Bean; Liberty Smith and husband, Shawn; Wade Sparks and wife, Karen; Dana Stephens and husband, Dave, Camille Click and husband, Kelly; Crystal Baker and husband, Dexter; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church of Deport; The Deport Order of the Eastern Star or the Charity of your choice.
