George [Gabby] Gordon, 84 of Bogata

gabbygordonGeorge (Gabby) Gordon Jr., age 84 of Bogata died Sat Jan 17 in Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday January 20 at the Clarksville Church of Christ 2405 West Main St. Clarksville Burial will be in Smith Cemetery at Rosalie under direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Monday at the Church Building
He was born Feb 23, 1930 in Red River County the son of George Graham Gordon Sr. and Martha Maude Pinson Gordon. He worked for over 30 years in the engineering division of the Texas Department of Transportation and retired with 43 1/2 years of service in Texas National Guard. In 1961 his guard unit was mobilized and sent to Ft Polk, Louisiana during the Berlin Crisis just prior to the first troops going to Viet Nam. He married the former Jo Massey Aug 6, 1950 in Fulbright, Texas. He was a longtime member of Clarksville Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. He also taught Bible Class until his health wouldn’t allow it.
He is survived by his wife Jo Gordon of Bogata, three daughters Beth McIntosh of Mesquite, Kristy Farr of Bonham and Lori Robertson and husband Johnny of Cascade, Virginia, three grandchildren Chay Shrewsberry and husband David of Basset Virginia, Micah Noel Robertson of Martinsville Virginia and Caleb Robertson of Cascade, Virginia, a great grandson Tanner Blake Shrewsberry, a brother Joe Gordon and wife Vernita of Abernathy, Texas, three sisters Alice Eberhardt of San Antonio, Ann Jewett of Reno, Texas and Sue Stafford of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by two sons in law Ken McIntosh and Patrick Farr.
Until his health no longer allowed, he attended all home sporting events for Rivercrest ISD. He was a loyal fan to the end, and win or lose, he gave them a “standing” ovation.
