Hassell Grimes, 74 of Cuthand

GRIMESMr. Hassell Grimes, age 74 of Cuthand died on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home. Funeral Services have been scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Cuthand Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11am. Burial will follow in Cuthand Cemetery.

He was born on June 16, 1940 in Enola, Arkansas, the son of Henry Lee and Lillie Ann Hale Grimes. His first wife; the former Lucille Parker died in 1969. He later married the former Margie Welborn. He owned and operated a Motor Winding Company in Dallas, retiring in 1998. Later, he worked as a truck driver and pesticide distributor. He was a long time member of the Shrine where he was a clown, known as “Hobo Bill”.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Grimes of Cuthand; children: Gail Bailey and husband, Raymond of Mesquite; Pam Culpepper and husband, Keith of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Stephanie Taylor of San Diego, California; Bruce Danvers and wife, Kim and Judy Hilderbrant and husband, Keith all of Forney; Lyle Dale Grimes and wife, Elexis of Austin and Crystal Lynell Stewart and husband, Daniel of Katy, Texas; 15 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda May of McRae, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Lois Ann Grimes, and a granddaughter Danielle Nicole Hilderbant.

    Hassell Grimes was a true American hero; he adopted and treated me like a son and he supported my decision in going into the military. I will carry on the values he instilled in me. He also made me a Dallas Cowboys fan!
