Loyce Brodie 82 of Paris, formerly of Deport

Loyce Marie Brodie, age 82 of Paris and formerly of Deport, died at her home on Saturday, November 1, 2014. She was born on September 3, 1932 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas. Her parents were Thurb and Hettie Ward Thomas. She owned and operated The Rusty Nook gift shop in Deport for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.R. Brodie; her sister, Alva Nell Wolfe; her sons, Billy Jack Brodie and J.R. [Dusty] Brodie, II; her daughter, Marsha Elaine Rimpler; granddaughter; Kathy Roberts and a great-grandson, Jason Roy Carter.

Survivors include her daughters: Donna Walters of Paris and DÁnn Bailey and husband, Steven of Arthur City; brothers and sisters: Joyce Greer and husband, Wesley of Lakey, Texas; Thurbert Thomas, Jr and wife, Bernice of Houston; Mary Jo Barker of Deport; Joan Carey and husband Steve of Blossom; and Ricky Thomas and wife, Linda of Blossom; grandchildren: Jim Surles; Buffy Babbitt; Hettie Gilbreath; Kaleb Carter; Tóna Carter, Jennifer Webber, Daniel Carter; Yvonne Fernandez; Getty Fernandez; J.R. Brodie, III [Lil’Dusty], Joshua; Billy Wayne Surles; and Abby Brodie; 16 great-grandchildren; daughter in law, Esmerelda Brodie of Deport.

Following Cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
