Karen Lee Cherry, 63 of Deport

backofproKaren Lee Cherry, 63 of Deport, died on April 22, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Cherry on April 21, 2014   Joint Funeral Services have been scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at 11:00 am in the Life Tabernacle Church of Cunningham.  Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7-8pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Wood Funeral Homes, Deport have charge of the arrangements.

She was born September 27, 1950 in Lamar County, a daughter of Alfonzo and Angie Taylor Smith. She married the Darrell Cherry on March 21, 1970. Together, they had raised these children who survive them:  Michael Cherry and wife, Dedee of Deport; Tracy Cherry and Tina of Irving; Shawna Farmer and Chris of Deport and Richard Cherry and Brittany of Brookston; 9 grandchildren:  Michael Cherry, Jr.; Jason Ryan Cherry; Tiffani Smith; J.R. Smith, Christina Ruyle; Dakota Lain Cherry, Lucas Tate Cherry; Serenity Paige Cherry; Hayden Lynn Farmer; her sisters and brothers:  Nova Sue Goley of Paris, Ruth Ann Coleman and husband, William of Deport, Shirley June Haskell and husband, Larry of Deport, Barbara Jewel Merchant and husband, Ronnie of Bogata, Darrell Wayne Smith and wife, Evelyn of Grand Prairie, Donald Ray Smith and wife, Donetta of Paris, Larry Gene Smith and wife, Sheila of Cunningham; Fonzo Grant and Betty Smith of Farris, and James Paul Smith and wife, Nancy of Leonard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her parents; an infant sister, Opal Juanita Smith and a brother, Charley Dale Smith.
