Gary Parks, 56 of Deport

GaryGary Parks, 56 of Deport, died on February 16, 2014 at Legends Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  A visitation Celebrating Gary’s Life will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30-4:30 at Wood Funeral Homes, Deport.

He was born on July 25, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He was a welder, having owned his own construction company for many years and later working at Turner Pipe in Paris.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deport.  He was preceded in death by his Grandparents:  Al and Mary Parks and Charles and Mary Alice Bumgarner; his father and stepmother, Burl and Margie Parks, and his granddaughter, Kelsey Paige Parks. Gary’s favorite past times were talking, hunting, and fishing with Gerald Cobbs and Ryan [Rooster] Sloan.

He is survived by his son, David Parks of Deport; his mother Alice Gravatt of Paris; his sister, Kathy McFarlin of Paris and brother, Darren Hickman of Greensboro, North Carolina; his granddaughter, Cheyenne Parks; wife and friend, Norma Parks of Blossom; two nephews, Tyler McFarlin of Ardmore, OK and Brandon Spears of Tulsa.

Gary’s wish was instead of flowers, to please make donations in his name to the Texas Oncology Indigent Fund, 3550 NE Loop 286, Paris, TX 75460.  They assist cancer patients with funding for their treatments and are funded through donations.
