If there was ever a person that deserves to be in Heaven it’s Becky! We spent a lot of time together growing up and going to the Baptist church together and even taught swimming lessons together as well as we went to school together. Out of all that time I can’t think of one moment that she was not smiling, with a positive attitude and just happy to be around everybody! I know she will be missed by so many people and glad I got to know her like I did she has been an inspiration to so many!
So until we see you again ! R. I. P

  4. Melanie Strawn Handlin says:

Besides the swimming lessons Becky taught and helping her mother oversee the Girl Scout campouts at their home, my fondest memory was her playing the piano. She shared her beautiful talent with church members at every function including bible school. One particular year that she played for bible school I thought it would be funny as the kids were walking out of the sanctuary to say ” go Becky go” as she was playing the piano. Every day for a week I didn’t miss a beat except for Friday. She had not acknowledged my comment all week and I thought by Friday she wouldn’t notice if I didn’t. As the children were dismissed on Friday, Becky stopped me on the way out the front door of the church. She said ” Melanie what happened? ” I looked surprised and asked ” What?” She explained ” Your words were encouraging and I looked forward to them everyday and I was disappointed to not hear ” go Becky go”. We hugged and I apologized. Of all the lives she inspired, she ultimately got the most beautiful gift of all… ” Go Becky Go! ” Until we see you again, God has an amazing woman in Heaven.
    I love you,
    Melanie Strawn Handlin

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Becky during her time in Mart. She was an amazing person to work with! Her love for music inspired so many little kids and if you ask any of them now what they remember, “It’s the discoball, playing limbo and her guitar Oreo.” She amazed me in so many ways. I’ll never forget helping her with the Christmas programs. During one rehersal, she was playing a few strings on Oreo, warming him up I guess and I asked her, “Hey, you know any good old stuff (which everything she played was good)and she busted out a tune…Stairway to Heaven! Then she moved on to play some other heavy metal tunes and we sat there and laughed and talked about music playing a game of “Name that Tune!” She’d yell, “Hey Coach, remember this one?” She will be missed by everyone that she touched rock that guitar in Heaven girl! Until we meet again…luv ya girl!

As I sat here and read all these wonderful attributes about Becky, I was thinking back to growing up with her in Bogata. Most of my memories involve her in some way. She was kind, fun-loving and encouraging, always with a smile on her face! She taught 3 of my girls swimming lessons and played the piano when I got married. My thoughts and prayers are with her mother, her husband, her brother and all of the family. May God give you all peace and comfort. I know that she is up in heaven playing that grand piano for God and all the angels. RIP Becky, till we meet again!

  29. Cathey Bennett says:

Becky was a wonderful person and a great teacher. I had the privilege of working with her when she first came to Axtell. She inspired many of our students with her music, including in recent years my grandchildren.
Her passing has left a void in the lives of many in our community and beyond.

  30. Pam Harrison says:

Becky, what a blast we have had!! I have never known a person who cared so much about other people and making sure everyone else was okay and making it thru whatever was going on. I have had the joy of working with Becky both before she left to go to Mart and after she came back to Axtell. She always had a smile on her face and was always concerned about everyone else. Her love of kids and music was huge. She taught the kids so many wonderful songs but she knew my favorite one, so after they had learned it she would always bring them down to sing it for me, I know she did that for several people. Lunch time will never be the same without her. We have laughed so hard we cried, Becky was never at a loss of something to say to crack us up. Your “Lunch B’s” will never be the same without you! Just know Beck that we are keeping an eye on the salt for you!

Mrs. White and Brian, may God bless you and comfort you.

So Beck Beck, until we meet again!
    Love ya dear friend!

Mrs. White and Mr. Hurst, I was one of Becky’s SAI sisters in college. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss! I loved Becky! She was so very talented! Her playing was beautiful and I admired her a great deal! I’m shocked and saddened to hear of her home-going, but am confident that the music in heaven is that much more beautiful now! She had the strongest fingers of anyone I ever met and could play for hours! I am so grateful to have known her.

  37. Melanie Anderson says:

What a privilege it is to have known Becky! Her beautiful smile and unique mannerisms will never be forgotten. I, too, was an SAI sister and fellow pianist at ETBU. It amazes me how just the other day I was reminiscing about playing a duet (“Malaguena”) with her. What fun we had and what a terrific musician Becky is! I say “is” because I know the Lord has her accompanying some amazing angelic choir there in our forever home. Please accept our sincere condolences and understand that our prayers for comfort, heart-healing, and peace, as well as joy, are with you.

  38. Mark Hardin says:

Becky was my partner in crime my last couple years at ETBU. We shared many a laugh (mostly at each others’ expense), and she was a dear friend of mine. I’m just sorry we lost touch. I am truly stunned and saddened. Her talent, her fire, her loyalty and her spirit (not to mention that RED HAIR!) made her such fun and such a good friend. She touched my life, and I am forever richer for the experience.
    My sincerest condolences,
    Mark Hardin

  39. Alicia Noddings says:

I am so sorry to hear of your family’s loss of Becky. I have just now learned of this sad news from a friend at Baylor, where I was blessed to know and be friends with Becky for a semester back in 1994. She was a wonderful musician, so much fun, and a truly caring woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and as others have said, I’m sure heaven is richer for her presence, as much as she is missed here.
