Tommy Corbell, 81

Mr. Tommy Corbell age 81 of Bogata died Tuesday Sept 3 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 10 30 am Friday Sept 6 in Bogata United Methodist Church with Rev Don Shovan and Rev Elaine Bussy officiating. Burial will be in Bogata Cemetery under direction of Wood Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends 9 30 until 10 30 Friday at the church

Mr. Corbell was born June 28, l932 in Red River County the son of William Jester and Annie Ruby Stevens Corbell. He married the former Glenda Whitten on Sept 3, 1971.    He graduated from Bogata High School and attended Paris Junior College. He was a longtime member of Bogata United Methodist Church serving in various offices and was a member of Bogata Methodist Choir. He was former Commissioner of Red River County, and was a former Democratic county chairman of Red River County.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Corbell of Bogata, two sons Steve Corbell and wife Debbie of Mt Pleasant, and Joe Corbell of Longview, three sisters Peggy Yale and husband Bo of Dallas, Carol Ann Baker and husband Bill of Alvarado, and Nina Smith and husband Doyle of Dallas; 6 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepson Mike Corbell, three sisters Chrystine Baker, Dorothy Tremere and Billie Welch and two brothers Roy Lynn Corbell and W.J. (Dude) Corbell.

    We have lost another pillar of the community as well as a good friend. Tommy was a very funny guy I have a lot of fond memories of his story telling as well as a few songs he would sing that really made us laugh! He will be greatly missed by all!
