Archie Jackson 86

Archie Leon Jackson, 86 of Paris, passed from this world on August 19, 2013 at the Dallas, Texas VA Medical Center.  He grew up in Manchester and Deport, Texas.   Graduated from Deport High School   Wood Funeral Homes will conduct Services and Burial on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10:0 am in the Highland Cemetery in Deport, Texas

Archie spent 27 years in the US Army and was an E-7 Tech Sergeant, Highly Decorated in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, where he received the Bronze Star, Expeditionary Medal, Korean Service Medal (w/OLC) and Presidential Citation from the Korean Government.

After Korea, he finished Pharmacy School and ran a Pharmacy while stationed in Germany.  Then was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston training new medics the proper procedure to perform First Aid in the Field, then reassignment to Vietnam on 2—one year Visits assisting the South Vietnamese Army setting up medical stations to care for the wounded.

While in Vietnam, he was awarded the Silver Star; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal, w/60 Device; oversea bars (4) and Services Stripes (8); after that, he served as NCOIC at the Service Induction Center located in Boston, MA until he retired from active duty in 1974 and returned to Paris and cared for his parents until their death.

Archie was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Jackson, parents Oda S. and Bertha M. Jackson and Brother J.D. Jackson.

Archie is survived by his brother, Elbert Jackson of Tyler, Elton Jackson of Ft. Worth and Gary (Jack) Jackson and wife, Jayne; many nephews, nieces, and other family members.
